These roles, based across our contact centre, customer service, library and information sites are instrumental in connecting community members with the right answers, information, and services, at the right time, and in the right way.
In this role, you’ll be the primary contact for the community; managing customer enquiries, requests and feedback, resolving issues at the first point of contact, and providing professional, friendly and efficient service.
You’ll play a key role in delivering high quality, respectful and inclusive customer experiences and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.

Nga Kawenga me nga Mahi: Responsibilities and Duties

In this role, you will:

  • Be the primary contact for customers, building strong and respectful working relationships and handling queries, requests, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assess individual customer needs and circumstances to determine. appropriate services, support, and follow through to the conclusion of the query.
  • Provide accurate information, advice, and guidance using the range of tools provided, and in accordance with organisational policy and procedures.
  • Create and maintain accurate and up to date records and information about customer interactions.
  • Work to a roster that ensures that the team provides an agile and responsive service delivery across the district.
  • Resolve as many issues as possible at the first point of contact.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in a customer service, coordination, or case management environment – this is essential.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound, fair decisions.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong digital and information literacy.
  • Knowledge of local government infrastructure, compliance, and delivery environments will be highly regarded.
  • Strong people, coordination and prioritisation skills.
  • The ability to advocate and assume responsibility for customers.

These roles are based across Council’s customer facing sites in Tokoroa, Putāruru and Tīrau and there are a range of hours available which include some rotating Saturday shifts.
