We're looking for someone who's ready to roll up their sleeves — fixing, fabricating, maintaining and problem-solving as part of the essential day-to-day mahi within our Wastewater Operations team. In this role, your mechanical skills will support safe and reliable operation of critical wastewater systems that protect our waterways and environment. This hands-on work offers a unique blend of workshop and on-site operational tasks, ensuring the smooth functioning of essential wastewater services. This role is full-time 40 hours per week, based in Tokoroa, South Waikato.

In this role, you will:
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants and related systems
- Service and repair pumps, blowers, valves and other mechanical equipment
- Carry out inspections, routine maintenance and respond to breakdowns
- Perform fabrication and welding for infrastructure repairs or upgrades
- Monitor SCADA, telemetry and PLC systems to support plant optimisation
- Assist the water team with mechanical and workshop support when required
- Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records
- Champion health and safety practices across all work environments
- Collaborate with team members and support junior staff when needed

We are looking for someone with:
- Proven mechanical experience, especially with pumps, valves and plant equipment
- A practical, hands-on approach to maintenance and problem-solving
- A strong focus on health and safety, with attention to details in all tasks
- The ability to work independently, manage priorities and stay organised
- A team-focused attitude and clear communication skills

The base rate for this role ranges between $32.06 to $34.49 (+allowances!) and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. We use an annually reviewed grading system based on experience and qualifications.
