Te āheinga: The opportunity

We are seeking a mature, responsible and community minded people interested in returning to lifeguarding for another season with us or becoming a qualified Lifeguard and supervising your local community summer pools.

We operate our summer pools in Putāruru and Tirau from beginning of November 2025 to mid-March 2026 depending on the weather. We have availability for the whole season or the school holiday period, if desired.

Nga Kawenga me nga Mahi: Responsibilities and Duties

As a Leisure Services Attendant, you will:

  • Actively supervise swimmers, enforce safety rules and conduct water testing.
  • Greet patrons, answer questions and provide information on programs and schedules.
  • Maintain pool and facility cleanliness and report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Follow health and safety requirements and accurately report incidents.
  • Support leisure services at other facilities when required.

He kōrero mōu: About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who are:

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Confident swimmers, 200m in under 6 minutes, tread water for 5 minutes and retrieve object from 2.2m depth.
  • Excellent communicators with strong customer service skills.
  • Flexible, proactive and team oriented.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

  • Competitive pay $26.85 to $29.20 per hour.
  • Flexible work, either full season or school holiday only.

  • Build valuable skills in customer service, safety and aquatic operations.

Training Dates

These are mandatory paid training, and you will need to be available to attend all sessions below (4 hours each day).

  • Friday evening 10 October – Saturday morning 11 October
  • Friday evening 17 October – Saturday morning 18 October
  • Friday evening 24 October – Saturday morning 25 October

This is a fixed-term part time role (8 – 15 hours per week). We have a strong safety culture so we require preferred candidates to undergo pre-employment health check.
