Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to drive positive change? We are looking for a dedicated student intern who is passionate about creating change and supporting our circular economy to help promote a more sustainable future.

Circular economy – what’s it all about?

We want to go beyond reducing waste – we want to design it out! This is essential for our future resource security, carbon reduction and for preventing waste from ending up in landfill.

Central and local government are investing to improve our resource use and kick start a circular economy. This creates an exciting and growing field for research and innovation, with plenty of opportunities to support change management, and bring new systems and ideas to life.

Te āheinga: The opportunity

We want to support a new generation of sustainability change-makers to explore fresh ideas for the benefit of our local communities. These success stories will be used to inspire others and shape future work.

On offer is an opportunity to combine the theoretical knowledge from your course of study with creative thinking, as you develop and bring to life a new circular economy project. This will be done with the guidance and support of an experienced team here at South Waikato District Council.

The position will run between February 2025 to February 2026, working 10 hours a week during the semester and up to 30 hours a week during the holidays.
