Te āheinga: The opportunity

South Waikato District Council is seeking an experienced leader to provide interim leadership and oversight of Council’s core infrastructure functions - including roading, parks and reserves, and environment, sustainability and waste - ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable community assets and services.

Nga Kawenga me nga Mahi - Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide leadership and coordination across operational infrastructure teams and assets
• Support asset management planning, maintenance delivery, and service level optimisation
• Foster cross-functional collaboration with the PMO and delivery teams on capital works
• Guide operational responses to issues, risks, and service disruptions
• Contribute to long-term infrastructure strategy and planning across portfolios
• Support staff development, health and safety, and internal process improvement.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and forward-looking individual that has:

• Strong leadership experience in infrastructure management, asset operations, or engineering.
• Knowledge of local government infrastructure, compliance, and delivery environments.
• Strong people and project coordination skills
• Commitment to safe, sustainable, and customer-focused infrastructure outcomes.
